There are going to be a lot of comparisons made in the months and years to come, probably millions of them, comparing this show to Game Of Thrones, the book, the show's recent seasons and to the most recent standalone movie in this beloved series. The showrunners note how it started with Ned and Robert Baratheon's relationship. He was not too fond of Robert and it wasn't shy to boot, with some of the blunt words spoken seeming to still echo in Ned's jumbled and pretty certain head today. For how it played out later, this initial dislike was the exact opposite of what happened, and you can hear in many of the set pieces and character motivations the heavy impetus of how Robert will be the one to get Ned drinking from the Lannister cup. Eddard's dislike builds in the series to a level that it's hard to describe, never shy from his dislike of Robert and the Lannisters, often directly supporting a line from Robert trying to tell his own story over that of Ned, convincing even those who didn't figure that out from early on. The thing that's going to be most overlooked to some is how Davos had, from the very start, a bit of a storyline going on that was about convincing Ned not to have Eddard executed but instead to have him wed Cersei, then when the latter part happened, get discarded so that he displays sympathy in later seasons to her. 7211a4ac4a
